2006 Kentucky Derby Review
Barbaro romped in the Kentucky Derby winning by an
astonishing 6 ½
lengths and was never seriously challenged in the
stretch, Michael Matz trainer and Lael Stables owner. Bluegrass Cat
rated close up and finished strong for the place, a testimony to his
trainer Todd Pletcher. Steppenwolfer circled traffic and closed late
to gain the show, Daniel Peitz trainer. The deep closing Jazil (Kiaran
McLaughlin trainer) and the Santa Anita Derby winner Brother Derek (Dan
Hendricks trainer) finished in a dead heat for fourth place.
